Welcome to MachineMetrics! We are here to empower your shop floor's digital transformation. This article exists to help new MachineMetrics customers get up and running quickly and easily. This will walk you through all the necessary steps involved with integrating your machines and then suggests some fundamental features to get you on the right path.
By now you should have a box that includes at least one MachineMetrics Edge Device (The little green box). This document will walk you through the steps to install and use MachineMetrics.
Before you get started, we do recommend that you sign up for MachineMetrics Status updates to stay up to date on the operational status of our platform. To learn more, visit this article, or go ahead and subscribe here.
Step 1: Preparing your Network
Before installing your Edge Device, you should prepare your Network infrastructure for installing MachineMetrics. Please click on the article for your specific type of network and review it before starting the installation
Step 2: Installing the Edge Device
Once your network infrastructure has been prepared to accommodate a connection to MachineMetrics, you can proceed to installing your Edge Device. If you are pursuing a Wired Network connection, you can skip this step, as your Edge Device will be acting as a gateway and won't be installed within any individual machine. If you are adding additional sensors, or connecting to a machine with relays, you’ll need to install the I/O Module as well by following the below instructions.
Step 3: Edge Management
The next necessary step will be to configure your Edge Device with your Network Credentials and IP address. Please follow the instructions listed in the Edge Management Article before proceeding.
Step 4: Machine Data Collection
Once your Edge Device has been installed and Configured, you can proceed to enabling the Data Collection Method that was determined to be the optimal approach for your Machine from the list at the link below:
Step 5: Adding Machines
You should have received a link in your email that invites you to your MachineMetrics account. Please follow instructions in that link to log-in, and begin to add your machines.
Step 6: Validating Machine Data
After your machine(s) are added to you MachineMetrics account, verify everything is reporting correctly by going to the diagnostic page. You can get to the diagnostics page from the machine overview or form a dashboard tile. The diagnostics page provides a real-time view of the machine data, so you should be able to validate that everything is reporting mapped correctly and data streaming. If not, please contact MachineMetrics technical support at firstname.lastname@example.org. For viewing your machine data over time, the diagnostic timeline is a useful tool.
Step 7: Using MachineMetrics
After all of your machines are reporting data correctly, you may begin using the data to change behavior on your factory floor.
