Introduction
The 'Users' page allows you to invite new colleagues to your MachineMetrics account as well as determine user roles and permissions. Until someone is invited to MachineMetrics and accepts their invitation, they can't interact with your MachineMetrics environment in any meaningful way.

Accessing the Users Page Back to Topics
To navigate to the Users Settings page, click Settings in the sidebar navigation and select Users from the list.
Users Page Layout and Functions Back To Topics
The Users page contains two tables. The Users table at the top of the page lists all of the current users on your account. Below the Users table is the Invites table which lists your outstanding invitations to new users.
Users Page Functions Back to Topics
The following sections present the functions available on the Users page.
Users Table Back to Topics
The Users table lists those people who were sent an invitation from an account admin and have accepted their invitation. Each row lists the user's name, email, phone number, and role. Users will have the role that was assigned to them in their invitation (see Inviting New Users and User Roles and Permissions).
Invites Table Back to Topics
The Invites table lists the email addresses of individuals who have been sent invitations to become users in your MachineMetrics account but have not yet accepted them. The Invites table shows the role that was assigned to the individual in the invitation, and provides the functions to manage each existing invitation and to send new invitations.
Inviting New Users Back to Topics
IMPORTANT! Do NOT send user invites for your Operators. Operators are added elsewhere in the settings pages.
When you are still in the early stages of setting up your account, you should only send user invitations to key stakeholders directly involved in your initial system configuration. Once the initial system configuration including your key users is set up and functioning properly, you can decide who else within your organization you want to invite.
To invite new users, do the following:
- Click the Invite Others button at the bottom right of the Invites table.
- In the Invite Others dialog, add the email(s) for the user(s) you intend to invite and select their role.
- Note: To invite more than one user, add each additional user on a separate line in the Email addresses field. All users you add at the same time in the Invite Others dialog must have the same role.

- Click the Send button to send the invitation to the user(s).
User Management Back to Topics
After a user has accepted a MachineMetrics account invitation, Executive/Manager users have the capability to change the user's account settings as described in the following sections.
User Roles and Permissions Back to Topics
A user's role determines what level of access they are granted within your MachineMetrics account. The following user roles are available:
- Executive: Executive users are able to edit and view all reports and account settings, as well as invite new users. Typically there are only 1-2 Executive users per account.
- Manager: Manager users are able to edit and view all reports and account settings, as well as invite new users. Manager is the most common user account.
- Supervisor: Supervisor users have access to reports and dashboards but do not have access to most Settings. This role can add individual Jobs but cannot bulk upload Jobs by CSV. Supervisor is the standard role for shop floor personnel.
- Kiosk: Kiosk is unique amongst potential roles and requires a deeper explanation. (See below.)
Kiosk Back to Topics
Technically, Kiosk is not a 'user' role, since this role isn't designed to be assigned to an actual user (i.e. an individual person.) The Kiosk role exists only for use with the monitors you have mounted throughout your shop floor. In other words, when setting up dedicated monitors on your shop floor to display your Current Shift Dashboard, these monitors should be logged in under a Kiosk User Role. The only thing a Kiosk account can access is dashboards and reports. Each MachineMetrics customer only needs 1 Kiosk account. If monitors are being used to display different machine groups around the shop floor, the URL for each one will need to be set to its particular machine group.
Setting up a Kiosk Account
When creating your company's Kiosk account, it is recommended that you create a new email account and use that email to invite and sign up for the Kiosk account. Make the email naming convention something you can easily remember, such as [company name]MMkiosk@gmail.com.] An Executive or Manager Role can create the email and send the invite from MachineMetrics. But make certain that the email and password are readily available for whoever will be setting up the shop floor monitors.
User roles are assigned with the user's invitation. Once initially assigned, Executive and Manager users can edit and update user roles at any time as described in the following section.
Changing User Account Settings Back to Topics
An Executive/Manager user can change a user's account settings as follows:
- Click on the user's account entry in the Users Table to launch the User dialog:
- Make the desired changes to the user account settings. See User Account Management Considerations.
- Click the Save Changes button to apply the user account changes.
User Account Management Considerations Back to Topics
Executive/Manager users cannot change the Name or Mobile settings in the User dialog. These settings can only be changed by users in their own MachineMetrics Profile page. Executive and Manager users can do the following to manage a user's account:
- Email: Change the account email address
- Role: Change the account role
- Access: Lock/unlock user account access
- Authentication: Initiate a password reset
- Sessions: Revoke all user account sessions
- Delete: Delete the user account
The following sections explain some additional considerations for managing MachineMetrics user account settings.
Locking/Unlocking User Account Access Back to Topics
The Unlock Account/Lock Account buttons are used to manage temporary account access changes. For example, this function could be used for temporary contract workers who do not work for the company on a continuous basis but may be called in as needed. Executive/Manager users can lock such a temporary worker user account when the individual is temporarily dismissed from working for the company, and unlock the account when the individual is called into work again. Companies should consider adding a "lock/unlock MachineMetrics account" policy and procedure to their standard HR and IT policies/procedures for managing temporary worker system access.
Resetting Passwords Back to Topics
Clicking the Reset Password button generates an email to the user's associated email account allowing the user to reset their password. Executive/Manager users may need to use this function for users who forget their login information or if the user's password needs to be reset to prevent unauthorized access as described in Revoking User Sessions.
Revoking User Sessions Back to Topics
The Revoke All Sessions button is used to log the user out of all MachineMetrics sessions that are currently active from different devices. This function can be used to resolve session conflicts where different devices have active sessions and possibly different individuals using the same user account. In this situation, an Executive/Manager user can click the Revoke All Sessions button to close all sessions associated with that user's account and then initiate a password reset to allow the authorized account user to change their password and prevent further unauthorized access.
Deleting User Accounts Back to Topics
Clicking the Delete button removes the user's account from the MachineMetrics environment. This function can be used upon the permanent termination of an employee. For temporary termination of an "as-needed" temporary employee who will need access again, companies should use the unlock/lock account function. Companies should consider adding a "delete MachineMetrics account" policy and procedure to their standard HR and IT policies/procedures for managing employee system access.
