Introduction
The Alarms page presents the summary data on all alarms received from all machines in the MachineMetrics environment over a selected date and time range. From the "all alarms" page, users can sort, filter, and search for specific alarms, access more detail for individual alarms, and create workflows for those alarms. This article explains the information and functions provided by the Alarms page.
Topics covered in this article
This article contains the following topics:
- Accessing the Alarms Application
- Alarms Page Layout and Functions
- Alarm Summary Page
- Have Questions?
Accessing the Alarms Application
To access the Alarms page:
- Click on Reports in the sidebar navigation
- Select the Alarms report tile as shown
Alarms Page Layout and Functions
The following figure shows an example of the Alarms application page. The following sections describe the layout of key information and functions provided by the Alarms application.
Page View Functions
The following figure highlights the functions for modifying the Alarms application page view.
Alarm Sorting
The alarms displayed on the Alarms application page can be sorted by direction in ascending or descending order by the following criteria:
- Count: Total number of alarm event occurrences.
- Duration: Length of time all machines spent in the alarm condition.
- Latest Occurrence: Date and time of the most recent occurrence of the alarm condition.
- Native Code: Alarm code identifier received from the machine itself.
Alarm Filtering
The alarms displayed on the Alarms application page can be filtered to show or hide alarms based on the following alarm criteria:
- Status: Show alarms based on alarm status (Warning or Fault), or show alarms at both statuses.
- Date/Time: Show alarms that occurred within the selected date and time range.
- Native Code or Message: Show alarms only if the text entered in the Native Code or Message search field is also in the machine alarm code identifier or in the associated alarm message.
Alarm Information Area
The alarm information area lists all alarms received from the machines in the environment that meet the selected alarm filtering criteria.
Alarm Status Indicator
The alarm status is indicated by the colored dot to the left of the native code and message. The color of the dot indicates alarm status as follows:
- Orange Dot: Warning alarm status.
- Red Dot: Fault alarm status.
Native Code & Message
To the right of the alarm status indicator are the machine's native code and message.
- Native Code: The "native code" is the alarm code identifier provided by the machine through the MachineMetrics integration. In the figure above, "EX1121" is highlighted as an example of a native code.
- Message: The "message" is any alarm message that the machine provides along with the native code. In the figure above, "SQ311 SIG. HAS DISCONNECTED" is highlighted as an example of an alarm message.
Most Recent/Oldest
Listed below the native code and message is the length of time that has passed since the most recent and oldest occurrences of the alarm event reported by all machines that experienced the alarm.
Alarm Totals
The alarm totals area (highlighted in the above figure) of the Alarms application page provides the following information:
- Events: Total number of alarm event occurrences reported by all machines.
- Machines: Total number of machines that experienced the alarm event.
- Duration: Total length of time of all alarm events.
Ellipse (---) Menu
The ellipse menu (---) allows you to open the alarm summary page for an individual alarm or create a new Workflow for the alarm.
Alarm Summary Page
The alarm summary page is accessible from the Alarms page and provides the following information and functions for individual alarms:
- Alarm event and duration totals by date
- List of machines that experienced the alarm, including the total number of events and total duration, with the ability to access all Machines applications for the machine
- Ability to create a Workflow for the alarm
Accessing the Alarm Summary Page
You can access the alarm summary page by clicking on the individual alarm entry in the Alarms application page or by clicking the Summary item in the Alarms application ellipse menu.
Creating a Workflow for the Alarm
Click the Create Workflow button to open the Workflows application and create a workflow for the alarm. See Using Workflows to Manage Machine Events for instructions on using the Workflows application.
