1 Prepare the Machine & Work Area
Safe state – Put the machine in MDI or “zero-feed” mode, spindle stopped, and ensure no axes will move when you twist the dial.
Visual access – Swing the control so the screen and dial are in one frame when you shoot video.
Phone ready – Open the camera app in landscape; set focus/brightness so both the screen text and dial are legible.
2 Open the PMC Diagnosis Page
Press
SYSTEM
on the control panel.Cursor-right to
PMC
(the soft key may read PMC or PMCG).Choose
DIAGNOS
(Diagnosis) ➜ you’re now in the I/O monitor where X-addresses (inputs) and Y-addresses (outputs) are displayed in real time.
3 Locate the Override Dial’s X-Address
Press
SEARCH
(orF SEARCH
) and typeX0
, thenEXECUTE
– this jumps to the start of the X-input range.Rotate the rapid/feed-override dial slowly through its detents (0 → 25 → 50 → 75 → 100 %).
Watch for any bits that flip from
0
to1
(or vice-versa) exactly when the dial moves. When you spot changing bits, note the full address (e.g.,
X010
on a 16-bit page orX10
on an 8-bit page). If more than one address changes, stop the dial at each detent and see which address gives a consistent binary pattern unique to each position.
Confirm the candidate address by rotating back and forth; only that X-word should toggle with the dial.
4 Map Each Dial Position
Dial Position | Observed Binary in X-word | Decimal Value |
---|---|---|
0 % | 0000 0000 0000 0000 | 0 |
25 % | 0000 0000 0000 0001 | 1 |
50 % | 0000 0000 0000 0010 | 2 |
75 % | 0000 0000 0000 0011 | 3 |
100 % | 0000 0000 0000 0100 | 4 |
(The pattern above is an example; record the real bits you see.)
For each detent, pause long enough for the screen to refresh (about 1 s).
Jot down the exact bit pattern or decimal value.
5 Shoot the Verification Video
Frame both the dial and the screen so the X-address row is readable.
Start recording.
Beginning at 0 %, rotate the dial through every detent up to 100 % and back to 0 %.
Announce out loud the value you see (e.g., “X10 equals 00000010 – that’s 50 percent”).
Stop recording (≈ 30–40 s total).
6 Send the Results to MachineMetrics
Share the video file (email, Teams, or upload link).
Include your mapping table and the confirmed X-address (e.g., X10).
We’ll use this to configure MachineMetrics so the dashboard shows the correct feed-override percentage.
