How to Enable Parameter Write Enable (PWE) on a Fanuc CNC

This procedure should only be carried out by qualified maintenance personnel. MachineMetrics takes no responsibility for any errors, damage, or unintended behavior resulting from enabling Parameter Write Enable (PWE) or editing parameters. Proceed with caution.

Prerequisite: Machine State

• Put the CNC into either:

  • MDI mode, or

  • Emergency Stop (E-Stop) state
    (This ensures safety while making parameter changes.)

Steps to Enable Parameter Write

1. Access the Setting Screen

   • Press the SETTING function key, or:

   • Press the function key once, then press the [SETTING] soft key.

   • This opens the first page of the setting screen.

2. Navigate to "PARAMETER WRITE"

   • Use the cursor keys to move the highlight to the PARAMETER WRITE setting.

3. Enable Parameter Write

   • Press the (OPRT) soft key to bring up operation options.

   • Either:

     • Press the [ON:1] soft key, or

     • Enter 1 and press the INPUT key.

4. Confirmation

   • Once enabled, an alarm like SW0100: PARAMETER WRITE ENABLE appears.

     • This is normal and indicates parameters are now editable.

Disable When Done

• After finishing your parameter edits, repeat the steps and set PARAMETER WRITE = 0.

• This will clear the SW0100 alarm and lock parameters from further changes.
