The applications in the Machines module provide the ability to quickly see current machine status and open incidents, access detailed machine performance and diagnostic data in the Health applications, and to create workflows for alarms that can generate incidents or notify the appropriate person should that alarm occur.
All of the functions described in this article may be accessed through the All Machines page or the individual machine Overview pages. This article describes the layout and functionality provided on the All Machines page. See the Individual Machine Overview article for the functions provided in the machine Overview pages.

Accessing the Machines Applications
Clicking on Machines in the main MachineMetrics application menu will open the All Machines page as shown in the following figure.
Using the All Machines Page
The All Machines page provides the following information:
- Total number of machines by state
- Individual machine information summaries
- Machine search and sort tools
- Access to machine configuration settings
- Access to individual machine overview pages
Total Number of Machines By Status
The top left of the All Machines page displays the total number of machines in the environment and the total number currently in each machine state.
The possible machine states that may display in this area include:
- Active
- Idle
- Fault
- Not Reporting
The icons, text, and numeric totals are actively updated with changes of machine states in the environment. If no machines in the environment are currently in a particular state, the icon and text for that state will not display.
Filtering Machines by Status
Each state displayed also functions as a filter that can be clicked to hide or display the machines in that state. The following figure shows an example of an All Machines page with only the machines in the Fault state displayed:
Machine Information Summaries
Each machine in the All Machines page has its own section of the page that displays the following:
- Machine image area
- The machine name, make, and model
- Machine current state indicator
- Open incidents area
- Ellipse menu (---) to access additional machine pages
Machine Image Area
The machine image area is used to display a photographic or other graphic image representing the machine. Typically the machine image is put in place as part of the initial setup of your MachineMetrics environment. This image can be changed on the machine Overview page.
Machine Name/Make/Model
The machine name, make, and model display next to the machine image. These are set during the initial installation and integration of MachineMetrics with your environment. All of these settings can be viewed and changed in the Machine Settings system configuration page, which can be accessed using the Manage Machines button.
IMPORTANT! Changes made to the machine name should be done in accordance with the machine naming conventions and requirements of your environment. Changes should not be made to the machine make and model without consulting your MachineMetrics Customer Success Manager or technical team.
Current Machine Status
The colored indicator dot and text below the machine name/make/model indicate the current machine status. The possible machine states that may display in this area include:
- Green: Active
- Blue: Idle
- Red: Fault
- Grey: Not Reporting
The machine status indicator here is immediately updated with state changes as they occur. Note that the Setup phase or operating status is not indicated here because Setup is associated with a Job, while this indicator is only associated with the physical machine state at the current moment. For example, a machine that has been placed in Setup operating status for a Job in MachineMetrics could be in either an Active or Idle state at a particular moment.
Open Incidents Area
The area to the right of the machine information section is used to indicate whether or not a machine has any open incidents. If a machine has no open incidents, this area will display "No Open Incidents". If a machine has open incidents, the most recent open incident will be highlighted in a box that displays the following:
- Incident type
- Name of the person assigned to resolve the incident (displays Unassigned if no one is assigned)
- "View In Timeline" link
The color of the box and text of the incident type indicates the priority level of the incident (Low/Medium/High) as shown below.
The open incidents area provides the following functionality:
- Clicking anywhere inside the incident box (except for the "View in Timeline" link) will open the Incident page with the Incident Details and Incident Log.
- Clicking the "View In Timeline" link opens the Diagnostic Timeline for the machine to the time the incident occurred.
- Clicking the "View [#] Incidents" link below the box opens the page that lists all open incidents.
Ellipse (---) Menu
Clicking on the ellipse (---) menu in the top right of the machine information section provides access to the Machines applications, Health applications, and reports. When you access an application through the ellipse menu in the machine information section, the application pages and reports will be specific to the individual machine.
Machine Search and Sort
Search and sort tools are provided in the top right of the page beneath the main application menus for managing the machine page view.
Sorting the All Machines Display
You can sort the machines displayed on the All Machines page by machine name, make and model, or status.
Searching for Machines
Using the search tool, you can enter and search for all or part of the machine name, serial number, make, or model. The search tool will automatically and immediately filter the machines displayed as you type as highlighted below.
Accessing Machine Configuration Settings
Clicking the Manage Machines button in the top right corner of the All Machines page opens the Machines page that allows you to access and manage the machine system configuration settings of all machines in the environment.
See Machine Settings for an explanation of the information and capabilities provided by this page.
Accessing the Individual Machine Overview
Click on any machine in the All Machines overview page (or select Overview from the ellipse menu) to see the Overview page for that machine. See Individual Machine Overview for an explanation of the information and capabilities provided by this page.
