A Brainbox is a small, industrial, unmanaged 4-port switch that can be easily installed and used for additional Ethernet ports. A Brain Box may be used if there are other connections, such as DNC, plugged into the available Ethernet port.
The Brainbox can be powered by a varying voltage range of 5v-30v, however, the typical installation uses 24v power from the machine's electrical control cabinet. The power terminal is removable and contains numbered pins for easy wiring and there is no software required.
The recommended setup is outlined below.
Ethernet:
- Port 1: Cable to CNC control
- Port 2: Cable to Edge Device
- Port 3: Cable to local device (DNC, etc.)
- Port 4: Cable to LAN (Optional depending on integration method)
Power: 1.1 Watts - Max: 220mAmps@+5vDC/36mAmps@+30vDC
- Pin 1: Negative Input
- Pin 2: Positive Input
- Pin 3: Unused
- Pin 4: Unused
- Pin 5: Unused
