Knowledge Hub is the centralized repository within MachineMetrics for storing manuals, SOPs, maintenance procedures, and other operational documentation. Once uploaded, these documents become searchable by Max AI, enabling users to ask natural-language questions and receive guidance directly from their own documentation.
This feature eliminates inconsistent tribal knowledge, improves the reliability of shop-floor decision making, and ensures teams can quickly access accurate, up-to-date procedures. Operators, technicians, supervisors, engineers, and support teams all benefit from faster access to standardized information.
⚠️ Request Access: Knowledge Hub is being gradually rolled out and may not yet be enabled on your account. To request early access, contact your SDM or AE. This feature will become available to all customers automatically over time.

How It Works
Knowledge Hub processes and indexes uploaded documents so Max AI can interpret and retrieve relevant content. When files are uploaded, the system extracts text, normalizes structure, and prepares the content for semantic search.
Max AI uses this indexed content to deliver contextual answers along with citations referencing the specific document sections used.
Files progress through the following states:
– Uploading
– Processing
– Processed
Replacing a document automatically reprocesses it, ensuring Max AI always references the most recent version.
⚠️ Important: Text contained inside images, complex tables, or diagrams may not be captured during processing. Images are replaced with placeholders and are not searchable by Max AI.
How to Use It
Uploading Documents
Navigate to Assets → Knowledge Hub.
Select Upload.
Choose the file(s) from your device.
Supported formats: PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, HTML, CSV, JSON.
Files that fail to process can be corrected and re-uploaded.
Structuring Documents for Best Results
For optimal AI responses:
– Use clear section headings and concise steps.
– Keep each document focused on a single topic or procedure.
– Prefer short paragraphs and bullet lists.
– Ensure critical details appear as text rather than screenshots.
– Use descriptive file names (e.g., GX-400_Setup_Guide.pdf).
⚠️ Important: Avoid scanned images, deeply nested formatting, multi-topic documents, and overly complex tables.
Using Max AI with Your Documentation
Once documents are processed, Max AI can answer questions such as:
– How to perform a setup procedure
– How to complete a maintenance task
– How to troubleshoot machine behavior or alarms
Max AI returns contextual guidance and cites the documents used so users can verify the source.

– Ensure important instructions appear as text, not images.
– Replace outdated documents regularly.
– Split large manuals into smaller, topic-specific files for improved accuracy.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
Can Max AI read images or screenshots?
No. Images are replaced with placeholders, and OCR may extract some text but varies by quality.
Why did my upload fail?
Confirm the file is a supported type and contains readable text. Correct the formatting and re-upload.
Why is my document stuck on “Processing”?
Refresh after a few minutes. If the status does not change, record the file name and contact support.
Max AI returned an incomplete or incorrect answer. What should I do?
Ensure the document contains clear text covering the topic, verify it is fully processed, and consider restructuring or splitting the document into smaller segments.
Do I need to re-upload a file after editing it?
Yes. Updated documents must be re-uploaded so they can be reprocessed and re-indexed.
