Introducing the Production Schedule
The Production Schedule feature within Schedule Intelligence displays which jobs are running on time and which are delayed. It allows you to reschedule operations as needed, ensuring your production timeline stays on track. The Production Schedule feature can be broken up into three main columns:
- Machines Column: Displays the current status of each machine along with its rolling 7-day capacity. This helps in understanding machine utilization and identifying available capacity.
- Active Column: Shows the currently running operations on a machine, providing insights into progress and estimated completion times.
- Up Next Column: Lists the operations scheduled to run on each machine. These can be rearranged using drag-and-drop functionality to accommodate changes in priorities or delays.
Core Concepts
Understanding the core concepts is essential to effectively managing your schedule within MachineMetrics:
- Production Order: A sequence of operations necessary to fulfill a specific part number.
- Production Order Operation: The individual step within a production order.
- Estimated Complete: The projected completion time for a production order operation.
- Required Complete: The latest date necessary for completing a production order operation.
- Not Ready/Ready: Indicates whether a production order operation is ready to start.
- At Risk/Overdue: Flags indicating potential or actual delays in completing operations.
How Completion Dates Are Estimated
MachineMetrics calculates estimated completion times by analyzing machine data, ERP data, and human inputs. The calculation considers various factors like current and historical cycle times, setup times, and interdependencies between operations and the machine's work queue to provide accurate real-time estimates.
To ensure these estimates are accurate, you should:
- Assign accurate shifts to your machines in Machine Schedules.
- Verify that all production order operations have cycle times and setup standards in your ERP.
- Confirm that all production orders have assigned due dates.
View Mode
The default view in the Production Schedule allows you to see the work currently running and scheduled on your machines. You can filter and search by machine, production order, or operation to get detailed insights into your production schedule.
Scheduling Mode
In Scheduling Mode, you can drag and drop operation cards to reschedule or assign work in a machine’s "Up Next" queue. This mode lets you preview the impact of these changes before saving, ensuring that adjustments are aligned with overall production goals.
Understanding the Scheduling Components
Machines Column
The machine column shows details for each machine, including the rolling 7 day capacity of work scheduled. This encompasses ongoing and all upcoming work.
Machine's Details
Displays the current machine status along with the duration for which the machine has been in that status.
Active Operation Column
The “Active Now” column shows what is currently running on the machine, whether it’s not running anything or experiencing an error.
Scheduled Operations Column
Cards shown in the “Up Next” column indicate production order operations that are assigned to that machine, displayed left to right in the order they are scheduled to run (with the orders scheduled to run next on the left).
Flags and Warnings
Conclusion
Schedule Intelligence is a powerful tool for managing and optimizing your production schedule. By providing real-time insights and flexible scheduling options, it helps ensure that your operations stay on track and meet delivery deadlines.
