There are three methods of integrating HAAS machines. Depending on the age and control type of your machine, your HAAS may be integrated as
Next Generation Control
The newest version of the HAAS Control (began production in 2016) allows MachineMetrics to collect data through the machine's ethernet port. Reference the Machine Operator's Manual as the cover mentions "Next Generation Control" when this is the case.
If you no longer have access to the Operator's Manual the next best method to tell if you have a Next Gen control is to navigate to the network settings.
- Press the SETTINGS hardkey
- Use the arrows to navigate to NETWORK > WIRED CONNECTION
If the screen looks like what is pictured below, your control is Next Gen, and the ethernet port can be used for data sharing. You can set your machine's network settings from this page.
To use the ethernet port for data sharing, you will need to disable DHCP, and set a static IP, subnet, and gateway that is in the same range as the edge device the machine is connected to.
You will also need to navigate to set the TCP port for data collection:
- Press SETTINGS hardkey
- Use the arrows to navigate to MISCELLANEOUS > 143 MACHINE DATA COLLECT. The option for this setting will not be ON/OFF like older machines, but rather a numerical value.
- Set the value for setting 143 to 4001.

Classic Control (HAAS Serial)
If your HAAS control does not appear to be Next Gen, it may still be new enough to share data through the serial port. The easiest way to determine if it is possible to share data through the serial port (port 1) is to navigate to the serial settings page:
- Press the SETTINGS hardkey
- Use the arrows to navigate to the I/O page
The I/O page should look similar to what is pictured below, with the RS-232 (serial) settings towards the top. You should also notice setting 143 DATA COLLECT - unlike the Next Generation control, setting 143 on the Classic Control will be an ON/OFF value. This setting must be ON in order to collect data from your machine. If you do not find setting 143 (you many have to scroll down on the I/O page), your machine is not capable of sharing data through the RS-232 port.

HAAS I/O
If your machine is too old to share data through the ethernet or serial port, it will have to be integrated I/O. The following link will walk you through the I/O integration process:
